Turks & Caicos Islands – Sand Source Investigation
Erickson Consulting Engineers, Inc. (ECE) provided continuing coastal engineering services to identify sources suitable for supplying sand for construction and remedy the beach erosion. Phase I of the study involved an assessment of sand uses, needs and requirements for the islands, including a five year forecast of future needs. Phase II investigations included performing jet probes and vibracores, assessed the quantities, quality and viability of the sites. The site evaluations included nearshore and offshore areas adjacent to the main islands.
Monitoring of the Mason Inlet Relocation Project
Erickson Consulting Engineers, Inc. (ECE) initiated physical monitoring studies to evaluate the effects of the inlet’s relocation on estuarine circulation, and ebb shoal and adjacent beaches sand losses and gains to evaluate changes in the inlet system and to develop recommendations for future maintenance of the inlet.
