Mason Inlet Relocation Project
New Hanover County, North Carolina
In March 2002, Mason Inlet was relocated 3,000 feet north along Figure Eight Island. Ms. Erickson, as the
Project Manager for this highly unique Project, coordinated all planning, design, NC DCM and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers permit processing, and in 2002 prepared the final construction documents. The Project’s Contractor, Southwind Dredging working through Koester Equipment, constructed the Project on budget and within the allotted 3.5 month construction window. This project provided a rare opportunity to relocate a rapidly migrating inlet that posed a substantial threat to Wrightville Beach with more than $239 million dollars in potential economic losses could result without the Project.
Blind Pass Restoration

Erickson Consulting Engineers, Inc. (ECE) was commissioned in February 2005 to coordinate the tasks necessary to fund, plan, design, engineer, permit and prepare for the construction of the Blind Pass Restoration Project

Siesta Key HOA - Project Update (February 9th, 2006)
Erickson Consulting Engineers, Inc. (ECE) contracted with Sarasota County to collect the necessary scientific data and develop a recommended plan and design to reopen Midnight Pass. Two barrier island beaches adjacent to the Pass will benefit from sand placement when this Pass is reopened including Siesta Key located to the north and Casey Key located to the south.
St. Lucie, Martin County Improvement Plan

Ms. Erickson, as the Project Manager for this highly unique project responsible for the formulation of the State’s first adopted and implemented Inlet Management Plan at St. Lucie Inlet.
Monitoring of the Mason Inlet Relocation Project
Wrightsville Beach, North Carolina
Erickson Consulting Engineers, Inc. (ECE) initiated physical monitoring studies to evaluate the effects of the inlet’s relocation on estuarine circulation, and ebb shoal and adjacent beaches sand losses and gains to evaluate changes in the inlet system and to develop recommendations for future maintenance of the inlet.
