Inlet Improvements
Mason Inlet Relocation Project – New Hanover County, North Carolina
In March 2002, Mason Inlet was relocated 3,000 feet north along Figure Eight Island. Ms. Erickson, as the Project’s Engineer of Record for this highly unique Project coordinated all services including planning, design, NC DCM and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers permit processing, and she prepared the final construction documents. The Project’s Contractor, Southwind Dredging constructed the Project on budget and within the allotted 3.5 month construction window. This project provided a rare opportunity to relocate a rapidly migrating inlet that posed a substantial threat to Wrightville Beach with more than $239 million dollars in potential economic losses that would result without the Project.
Midnight Pass Reopening Project
Erickson Consulting Engineers, Inc. (ECE) contracted with Sarasota County in 2004 to conduct all coastal engineering services required to plan, design, and construct a project to reopen Midnight Pass, closed since 1983. Two barrier island beaches adjacent to the Pass will benefit from sand placement when this Pass is reopened.
Blind Pass Restoration
Erickson Consulting Engineers, Inc. (ECE) was commissioned in February 2005 to coordinate the tasks necessary to fund, plan, design, engineer, permit, and prepare for the construction of the Blind Pass Restoration Project.
St Lucie, Martin County – Inlet Improvement Plan
Ms. Erickson served as the Project Manager and Principal Engineer for this highly unique project responsible for the formulation of the State’s first adopted and implemented Inlet Management Plan at St. Lucie Inlet.
